Jefferson Sheard Architects were appointed by longstanding client HBD to deliver a new Assembly facility including office headquarters for aviation specialist IPECO.
The building spans 129,000 sq. ft and forms the second phase of IPECO’s expansion at Airport Business Park Southend.
We secured planning approval by Rochford District Council in early 2023. The scheme is on-site and is due for occupation 2024.
The building has been designed with regard to the built and emerging context within the Business Park as well as the wider landscape and setting. It features three gently curved roof bays which are set as low as possible whilst achieving the occupiers required internal heights.
To create an impressive entrance, the southeastern corner of the building showcases a two-story internal reception space with fully glazed frontages set back below a canopy roof. Our design ensures clear visibility from the approach to the site and offers dynamic and engaging frontages.
Elevations have been composed with the intension of reducing the overall scale through horizontal banding that seeks to visually reduce the height of the building. The architectural language and material palette is consistent with the adjacent Phase 1 development, ensuring cohesion and unity between the two buildings.
