Jefferson Sheard is appointed upon a 29-home development at Empingham, Rutland, for our Client Spire Homes (part of the Longhurst Group). The development comprises homes for affordable rent, shared ownership and outright sale, providing much-needed affordable housing for the local community.
The site had originally consisted of ten concrete homes built in the 1950s, alongside the original Beckworth Court development, a 1960s sheltered housing development which had become outdated and no longer fit for purpose.
Longhurst Group’s Head of Development, Jeff Gunthorp commented: “We’re delighted to have started work on this exciting development, which contributes to our aim of building over 2,500 new homes by 2019.
“When completed, this project will have totally transformed the site from what it once was, providing much-needed and sought-after affordable housing in a picturesque rural setting.
The scheme has recently ‘broken ground’ by contractor Lindum Construction and has been fully supported by Rutland County Council and the Homes & Communities Agency, with the latter providing grant funding for some of the affordable homes.
