Jefferson Sheard Architects were appointed by client HG Developments to deliver the design for a student accommodation and mixed-use development at London Road, Edinburgh.
We provided full delivery architect services to the phased implementation of the newbuild scheme. Phase 1 consisted of a 198 bed, 6 storey structure with phase 2 consisting of a linked 76 bed extension to the main building.
The scheme provides high quality student accommodation with a mix of clusters and studios served by flexible communal social areas, lounge, games room, ancillary spaces such as laundry facilities, cycle storage and communal outdoor spaces. The upper floors command impressive views across to Arthur’s Seat.
The mixed-use project also includes office space which is planned to be occupied by the charity People Know How. This ideally locates them to engage with communities in the area and help foster volunteering by the students living in the building.
