Posted by Jamie Handley Marketing & Bid Manager

Jefferson Sheard have been commissioned by Houlton on behalf of The University of Leeds to undertake the technical delivery for the refurbishment of the Sports Park Weetwood Pavilion and Cycle Track.

Building on Yorkshire’s Tour de France legacy, The University of Leeds are investing £5m in the new facility, £1m of which is through partnership funding from Sport England, British Cycling and UK Sport. In addition to the refurbished pavilion, the facility will include a 1.6km tarmac cycle track. It will become the training centre home for British Triathlon’s elite, attracting the likes of the Olympic medal winning Brownlee brothers

The pavilion will also be used by University staff, students and members of the public.

Whilst providing specialist strength and conditioning, physiotherapy and support to athletes based in the Yorkshire area, the facility will also remain accessible for grass sports such as rugby and football.

This marks the latest project to be delivered by the Jefferson Sheard team in the higher education sector, building on the success of five projects currently being delivered at Leeds Trinity University and one project at Sheffield Hallam University as part of the architectural framework.
