The scheme comprises of 234 beds and features amenities such as indoor communal spaces, a reception area, gym, private dining space, cinema, and game rooms.
Located just beyond the historic city walls, the site is situated in the Layerthorpe area. Layerthorpe is renowned for playing a crucial role in the city’s industrial revolution, and it is this rich industrial heritage that serves as the primary inspiration for the architectural concept, influencing the form and appearance of the building.
The project has undergone extensive engagement with stakeholders, including the City of York Council, Environment Agency and the York Civic Trust.
The development prioritises sustainability, aiming for BREEAM Excellent certification. Energy-efficient design features will be implemented to minimise environmental impact, and promote a low-carbon footprint.
