Jefferson Sheard completes Lancaster University Student Accommodation Refurbishment

Posted by Stewart Swindell Senior Architectural Technician

Jefferson Sheard has completed a small yet ambitious project to refurbish the Pendle and Grizedale Student Accommodation buildings, for our client, Lancaster University.

The project, which was delivered from of our Manchester office, included the refurbishment of 472 student bedrooms, plus the refurbishment of 120 single WC rooms and 120 shower rooms which were refurbished using pre-fabricated shower pods.

In order to complete the works ready for the new academic term, the refurbishment works needed to take place over the vacant summer period, and, as such, the programme was extremely challenging. We maintained programme and cost adherence via close collaboration with contractors, Parkinson Builders and Consultants Hoare Lea, SDA Consulting and Southerns Office Interiors.

This project is the first scheme to be completed as part of our appointment on the Lancaster University framework.

During the most recent financial year, Student Accommodation projects represented 28% of our turnover, with major projects completing in London and the South East for our clients, Danehurst, HG Construction and JR Pickstock, and new developments beginning in the North with Mace.
