The £14m Jefferson Sheard designed campus is part of Beverley’s ambitious Flemingate Development and provides a four-storey flagship landmark, promoting education and community links to the local area.
The contemporary design remains sympathetic to Beverley’s historic nature while featuring the latest learning technologies and improved links and accessibility. Thirty teaching rooms, an extensive Learning Resource Centre, hairdressing and beauty salons, restaurant and travel agency are included in the new build and a key element of the project, the Environmental Technology Centre, provides resource for enterprises that specialise in renewable energy technologies.
John Doris, Vice Principal, Finance and Resources for East Riding College, said: “We are delighted that our new Beverley campus has been shortlisted in the Civic Trust Awards. Having occupied the building for three months now, the students and staff are thoroughly enjoying learning and working in this wonderful, modern environment. The design is stunning and fully sympathetic to its location facing the historic Beverley Minster. The College can now truly claim to be at the heart of its community.
“The successful completion of this project has only been possible through outstanding partnership working between the College, Jefferson Sheard Architects, the project managers EC Harris and the main contractor, Houlton and Son.”
We’ve got everything crossed for the National Award which is expected to be announced in December.
